Course Portal Updates for Summer 1, 2018 Term

Vitalsource e-Textbook Integration

Starting with the Summer 1, 2018 term, many courses now have affordable e-textbook rental or purchase options available through Vitalsource.com when purchasing using a credit card or PayPal. With e-textbooks you are able to view, highlight, and take and share notes with your instructor and peers directly in your e-textbook from your web browser, desktop app, or mobile app on both iOS and Android devices. They are also portable and can easily be taken everywhere you go on the devices you use every day.

To use this option you will need to gather the textbook title(s) from your course syllabus. All syllabi can be found by searching in the Course Syllabi search on https://course.lapu.edu. When you have found your textbook, please note the textbook title, edition and copyright year and then visit https://www.vitalsource.com to search for the textbook.

Turnitin Assignment Submission Conversions

Beginning Summer 1, 2018 term, all plagiarism checking Turnitin submissions have been incorporated into standard Assignment Submission pages. You no longer need to submit assignments to a separate Originality Check page as well as the assignment submission page. Going forward you will only submit assignments that require plagiarism checking to the standard assignment page, where the Turnitin Originality Plugin has been integrated. You can submit assignments for originality before assignment deadlines in order to review your originality score and possibly improve through editing and rewriting of your assignment. This change will make assignment submissions more standardized, less confusing and provide faster turnaround of originality results.

All assignment submission pages where the Turnitin Originality Plugin is enabled now include the statement “[Originality Check]” in the assignment title to help easily identify where plagiarism checking is enabled.
